Big Night at Artesian Cellars: HBO Documentary Screening is a Hit With Locals in Pahrump

A social scene on Monday at the Artesian Cellars tasting room as Pahrump got behind its local TV station, KPVM. The station and its owner and employees are the subject of “Small Town News,” a documentary series on HBO.

The winery rolled out the red carpet — literally — for a screening event that drew about 100 attendees. Staff turned out in cocktail attire while owners Tim Burke and Pam Tyler (pictured below) were decked out in black tie and sequins. Many guests opted for glamour, and some posed outside before making a glamorous entrance.

Burke told Grape Basin News several events this year have packed the place, as Artesian Cellars becomes a hub for wine and entertainment.

The documentary was covered earlier this year in Variety, a trade publication for the entertainment industry:

Small Town News: KPVM Pahrump,’ a six-part half-hour documentary, will launch with back-to-back episodes on Monday, August 2…

The series look at life at a privately owned TV station in a small desert town…  a “scrappy, hardworking local news broadcaster looking to expand into a bigger market during challenging times.”
